I began investigating potential intersections between pottery, performance art, and narrative video at the culmination of my BFA studies. At the time I was exploring the medium of video extensively, as well as starting to experiment using unfired clay in my work.
“Clearcut”

artist’s shit fired to Δ044 (350°F) – 1995
“Slide”
clay specimen cups with cranberry juice concentrate, apple juice and human breast milk, plate glass, rubber and wood – 1995
“Corn Bowls”
48 porcelain bowls with corn kernel ash glaze (1 to 48 kernels of corn where consecutively placed inside bowls and fired to Δ10) – 1995
“Self-Portrait”
altered butter churn with text on handle: “IS IT OK TO TOUCH / IT IS OK TO TOUCH”, condoms, hand towels, milk and white cotton gloves – 1995
